Setting due dates in your CA course works a bit differently than traditional virtual due dates. Instead of using the due date feature of Canvas, you will use the custom-built Pacing Guide link that is linked in your teacher resources courseStat Here: Teacher resources module.
Set up your Pacing Guide
Follow the process below for setting up your pacing guide. This need needs to be done only once per class. You will want to make note of the term and semester of your course as each term and each semester will need their its own pacing guide.
Navigate to the Additional Course Setup page within your Start Here - Teachers module of your course and expand the Pacing Guide tab, where you will find your linked pacing guide.
Make a copy of the linked pacing guide - it should force you to do so. Also confirm the course and semester is correct for your section.
Once you have your own copy, you will notice that

are filled out for you. Focusing on Tab 1: Teacher Only you will complete the following information:
Term start date
Term end date
Blackout Dates (as set by Launch Administration for when work cannot be due)
Due Dates mirroring the traditional virtual section for your same term
Note: The assignments listed match your course, do not add or edit the assignments.Q1 - Q1 CA will use the Due Dates of Q1-Q1 Traditional Virtual
Q1 - Q2 CA will use the Due Dates of Q1-Q2 Traditional Virtual
Q2 - Q2 CA will use the Due Dates of Q2-Q2 Traditional Virtual
Q3 - Q3 CA will use the Due Dates of Q3-Q3 Traditional Virtual
Q3 - Q4 CA will use the Due Dates of Q3-Q4 Traditional Virtual
Q4 - Q4 CA will use the Due Dates of Q4-Q4 Traditional Virtual
Once you have all the information above filled in, your pacing guide is ready when students enter your course. Remember, this initial setup is done only once per class.
Using Your Pacing Guide for Students
You will use the following process once students are enrolled in your course.
On Tab 1: Teacher Only you will enter the individual Student start date and Student end date. Only complete 1 student at a time.
...
Once you have the fields on Tab 1 complete, navigate to Tab 2: Pacing Guide. This is the tab where the students plan will be automatically calculated. All of the fields should be filled in for you based on the information on Tab 1.
The fields Day the course beings and Day the course ends are based on the student start and end date.
The Pacing Dates have been calculated based on the student dates, blackout dates, and the due dates.
Take a screenshot of Tab 2: Pacing Guide to send to students in a Canvas message. If students have the same start and end date, they can use the same pacing guide & screenshot.

You have now completed your pacing guide for the course and for the individualized students. You can keep this copy to use throughout the course and only need to customize the student start and end dates as students are enrolled.
