Creating an Account

Is this is your first time accessing Noteflight, you will need to create an account.

Go to Noteflight, and click Sign In, from the upper right.

Select Create an Account from the Sign In window.

Accept Noteflight’s Terms of Service, by checking the box.

Click Sign up with Google.

Use your Launch Student Google Account (#@sps.org).

Fill out the remaining requirements, based on your preferences.


Creating Musical Compositions

Once logged in to Noteflight, it’s easy to get a new musical composition started.

Starting a New Composition

Click + Create, from the upper left.

Choose Start from a blank score sheet from the New Score window.

Configuring Your Composition

Based on your instrument preferences during the account creation, a staff for your instrument should appear.

Adding Other Instruments

If you need a different staff, choose Parts from the top toolbar.

From the parts dialogue box, add or remove any instruments by choosing Add Part.

After adding any additional instruments (parts) to your composition, toggle on/off the appropriate instruments.

Changing Tempo

To change your default tempo, adjust the Tempo spinner in the second toolbar.

Changing Time Signature

To modify your stave’s time signature, choose the Time Signature button from the Measure group in the second toolbar.

Modify your time signature appropriately. Select OK.


Adding Musical Notes

Begin your composition by selecting a measure, then hover over the first note’s spot.

Click to place the note.

To change the note’s length, choose a note length from the Duration group in the second toolbar.

Continue adding and modifying notes and rests in your composition.


Sharing Your Musical Composition and Turning It In

By default, your musical composition is only viewable by your account. In order to share it with your instructor, follow these steps.

Sharing

Select Score Details from the top toolbar.

Roll out the Share options by clicking on Share.

Choose Share Score.

Type in a score title, then click Save.

Naming YOur Score Example

Set your sharing permissions to:

Share Settings

Click Next.

Set your copyright. For this course, you should be creating your own original works, so choose an original work.

Submitting Noteflight Assignments to Canvas

After sharing your composition, copy the URL from your address bar.
The one below is an example.

Go to your Canvas assignment, and paste the URL in the submission text box.
