Teacher Instructions - Provisioning Student Gizmos Accounts
Gizmos is a resource used in the Launch science courses to complete online laboratory simulations.
Due to change in the Gizmos system, student accounts need to be manually provisioned. While Launch Operations Team tries to preemptively do this setup, students may contact you before our team has had a chance.
Be sure to visit the Common Issues - Gizmos page if you run into any problems.
Be sure to visit the Gizmos Assignments Per Course if you need a list of your Gizmos activities.
Setup your Gizmos account
If you have taught for Launch previously, your Gizmos account should be linked to your Canvas account.
If you have not taught for Launch previously, you may be prompted to setup your Gizmos account. Please use your Launch/SPS email (@spsmail.org) to create this account. If you receive an error that an account already exists, use the reset password button to reset your password.
To access Gizmos, click the link in the “Start Here: Course Resources” module.
You will see your courses on the right hand side and the Gizmos link on the left side. Select one of your courses from the menu on the right side.
When the class list loads, go ahead at the top and click the course name. In the drop down, select “All students” so that you can view all of your rosters at the same time.
From here, change the tab from Roster to Assignments and check the top checkbox to select all of your students.
Scroll down to the bottom and click “Access”.
Change the dropdown to “Access Enabled” and click “Accept”.
All of your students should now have access to their Gizmos accounts.
