Your Vivosmart HR must be paired directly through the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app, instead of from the Bluetooth®settings on your smartphone.
From the app store on your smartphone, install and open the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
Hold the device key to turn on the device.
Press the device key to view the menu, and select
Pair Smartphone to manually enter pairing mode.
Select an option to add your device to your Garmin Connect account:
Follow the on-screen instructions. DO NOT create your own account. You will sign-in using the account on the Garmin box provided.

If unable to pair, navigate to the Garmin Connect Mobile app, from the settings menu, select Garmin Devices > Add Device, and follow on-screen instructions.
After you pair successfully, a message appears, and your device syncs automatically with your smartphone.

Using Your Vivosmart 5
The Garmin should be snug but comfortable, and it should not move while running or exercising.

To Use:
Double tap: Double-tap the touchscreen to wake the Garmin.
NOTE: The screen turns off when not in use. When the screen is off, the Garmin is still active and recording data.
Wrist gesture: Rotate and lift your wrist toward your body to turn the screen on. Rotate your wrist away from your body to turn the screen off.
Press: Press the button on the screen to wake the Garmin.
Press the button on the screen to open and close the menu from the main Garmin Screen.
Press the button on the screen to return to the previous screen.
Hold: During a timed activity, hold the button on the screen to stop the timer.
Swipe: Swipe the touchscreen up or down to scroll through widgets and menu options. From the watch face, swipe right to view the controls menu.
Tap: Tap the touchscreen to make a selection.
Troubleshooting/Issues:
This is the go-to fix for anyone using one of the new Vivosmart 5 watches. If the watch freezes, stops recording heart rate, etc. students can hold down the button to restart/soft reset the watch.

Syncing Workout Data with a SmartPhone
After you have paired your device it will periodically sync data with the Garmin Connect Mobile app automatically. You can also manually sync your data at any time.
Bring the device near your smartphone.
Open the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
Tip: The app can be open or running in the background.
Select the
icon.
Wait while your data syncs.
View your current data in the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

Syncing Workout Data with a Computer
Before you can sync your data with the Garmin Connect™ application on your computer, you must install the Garmin Express™ application.
Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
Open the Garmin Express application.** (see note below)

**Note: The Garmin Express application is not compatible with Chromebooks; therefore, you will be unable to sync your Garmin watch with a Chromebook. If you do not have a smartphone to sync your workout data, contact your school's library or your counselor to request an HP Computer.
