Frequently Asked Questions - Command Center

 

Q. What is Command Center?

A. Command Center is replacing Dropout Detective and will be used for teachers and Liaisons to enter and collect information regarding their students' success in Launch. 


Q. How is Command Center different from Dropout Detective?

A. Command Center will include better organization of student data by providing filters and sorting options.  Instead of basing Risk Status (0-100) from an algorithm around student activity, it will provide Last Course Access and Last Submission date and time. 


Q. Where does a Liaison find Command Center? 

A. The liaison will log into Canvas using their existing Dropout Detective Canvas account.  Once you log into Canvas, please click the Admin icon [1] on the left side and a menu will expand, please click Launch [2].  On the next page, you will see the Command Center link in the left-hand navigation menu.

 

 

Q. How often does the Command Center update? 

A.  Command Center will update twice per day, around 6 am and 1 PM. You can check the Last Dashboard Update on the top right of Command Center. 

Q. Can I sort the data in Command Center? 

A. All of the data columns will be sortable by clicking the heading.  There is also a filter feature above the student data that will expand after you click Filters. 

 

Q. What general information does Command Center provide Liaisons? 

A. Command Center will show Student Legal Name, Preferred Student Name, ID Number, Grade Level, District, Building, Last Course Access, Last Submission, Last Contact Log, and Teacher notes. 


Q.  How do I view course grades for a student?

A. Click the student’s name to bring up a list of courses and you will see a grade/status column with the student’s current letter grade. (Remember Command Center will update twice per day. ) For Credit Recovery Courses and Credit Acquisition courses you will see in Progress or Completed. 


Q. As a Liaison, can I view grades for each assignment that a student submits? 

A. When viewing the student’s courses please click the blue grade book icon next to the student’s score.  This will pull a list of assignments and the score received. N/A means no score has been assigned to the work. 

 

Q.  What data is available on Command Center after a course is removed? 

A. Liaisons can view the Log History for any notes left from Teachers or Liaisons, but the course itself will not show after the student is removed. 


Q. Are Liaisons able to use the email option in Command Center? 

A. Please do not use the email button in Command Center as this is not tied to your email account.

Q. Where does a teacher find Command Center? 

A. Command Center will be located on the left side of your course if you are a teacher. 


Q. Will prior Dropout Detective notes transfer to Command Center? 

A. No, they will not transfer to Command Center but by request, Launch Administration can review historical Dropout Detective notes. 


Q. What do I do if I miss training about Command Center?

A. Please reach out to your LTS for training information on Command Center. 


Q. Who has access to the information in Command Center? 

A. Other Teachers, Launch Liaisons,  Launch Administration, and Launch Support. 

 

Q.  What are the expectations for teachers using Command Center? 

A. Teachers will log any parent communication outside of Canvas Inbox.

 

Q.  Is there a better way to ensure major concern alerts go somewhere? 

A. Teachers can pin all important notes to the top of the Log History.

Reach out to AP with escalated concerns. 


Q.  What data is available on Command Center after a course is removed? 

A. Teachers will not be able to see a student that has been removed from the course.
